Nepathya Foundation | नेपथ्य (formerly known as Behind the Scenes NGO) was started with the aim of empowering blue-collar workers - such as your driver, house help, watchman, or your office support staff. We are a registered NGO under the Companies Act of 2013.
OUR VISION
At Nepathya | नेपथ्य, we aim to bring those blue-collar employees to the forefront who have been working in the shadows, without due recognition. We help them get opportunities in both their professional and personal spheres of life - earlier denied to them because of differences in class structure and the nature of their work. We envision bridging the long-standing gap between the informal and formal sectors and attempting to create a work environment with a foundation set in equality.

EQUALITY
Equal treatment for all workers irrespective of their job description is a core belief with which Nepathya (नेपथ्य) was started. We believe that a healthy work environment is one that is fair and inclusive.
Maslow’s hierarchy of needs identifies esteem and self-actualization as part of the five categories of human needs. We aim to help more and more workers fulfill these primary needs, and become independent and empowered - by providing them with opportunities to further their personal growth, even as they work in jobs that offer little to no professional growth.
Our understanding and recognition of the workers and laborers working in the background are what drives us towards the path of empowering them. We work towards the day when workers and laborers are recognized and acknowledged.

OUR ADVISORS
RAMEYSH SHARMA
Sir is the founder of Daksh Education and Welfare Society. An emotional intelligence and life skill trainer, sir has also associated himself in the training field since 2006 with several government ministries as well as their PSUs. Some of these being the CBI Academy,Ghaziabad and Ministry of Road and Transport.
Dr. SABINE KAPASI
Ma'am is an IVF specialist and a health policy and governance strategy. She has worked on the teams strategizing 2012 Gujarat CM elections, pricing models of Obama Care and helped design Ayushmaan Bharat. She has worked in 27 countries and taught at HKU, NUS and INSEAD. She is currently working as the government advisory lead on Covid-19 response team.
OUR MANAGEMENT
VANSHIKA SHAH
Vanshika Shah graduated from Leiden University, Den Haag with an Advanced MSc. in International Relations and Diplomacy. Her focus is on Labor Diplomacy and Migration. She has a bachelors’ degree in Economics and International Relations from Ashoka University, Sonipat. Through her research published in accredited sites including EEAS, Scroll, The Wire, ECS Nepal and The Himalayan Times, she aims to highlight worker narratives that are omitted from mainstream media and public policy landscape.
VANSHIKA MITTAL
Vanshika Mittal is a graduate student at the Nicholas School of Environment, Duke University. She has experience working in international development with Adam Smith International. Her research interests include informal economy and sustainable development as she has co-authored several studies published in peer reviewed journals including Asian Ethnicity and Cities and independent platforms such as The Wire and Scroll.
